Weekend in the west of Ireland
Happy Monday All!
I hope your first day of the week went smoothly. I found it hard getting into the spirit of things after such a fun weekend!
The weather did not agree with us much, therefore we couldn't actually do the one thing we went there for.... climb the Croagh Patrick! Devastated. It was literally lashing and you could not see the top of the mountain.
We stayed in The Mulranny Park Hotel located in a little village of Mallaranny between Achill Island and Newport. The hotel itself has an amazing view of the Irish Sea and Croagh Patrick, however there is not much to do in the village itself. If you are looking for a secluded getaway with no pubs/bars/music this is the place for you.
View from our room
First night we got there around 8pm and we were shattered after a 3 hour drive after work. We grabbed some food in the hotel bar, I had Beef Stroganoff and it was delicious. We then had couple of drinks in our room and passed out! So exciting!
On Saturday morning we indulged in their Buffet Breakfast which I cannot fault, plenty of everything from scones, fruits, yogurts to cooked breakfast.
The room was bright and spacious but the bathroom has seen better days. As this was a treat for Warren, to take a break from all things "wedding" I didn't bother complaining to a staff member, as I didn't want to spoil the weekend. However, on any other occasion this would not be an acceptable situation.
We went to Achill Island, Kama Beach and Blue Flag Beach as well as Mulranny Beach with stunning views of the landscape. I never even knew Ireland can be this beautiful!
In the evening we relaxed in the outdoor hot tub watching the sun set and swam in their pool. It was the perfect balance of relax and adventure. On the second night we went into Westport for dinner and couple of drinks for Warren (I was driving) and there was a great pub called Cosy Joes with live music. It seems to be a popular place for hens and stags.
This has really shown me Ireland I never knew existed.
What has everyone else been up to?
Enjoy Your Week!
As Always,
Lots of Love,
Joanna xoxo
