7 Top Tips for Travelling Lightly

I am back again with another travel related post! I wanted to thank you for such a big support and great reaction to my last blog about city breaks to Prague, which you will find here.

This post will focus on my top tips of practical packing for short trips (as you can guess from this posts title).

1. Do not buy a bag bigger than the allowed carry on size. Sounds simple right? Well, you'd be surprised how many people make this common mistake. It will also save you bunch of nerves at the airport trying to smuggle larger carry on through security. Also if you buy the right size bag you will not over pack.

2. Decide on what type of trip are you going on and what time of the year?

If it's a city break during the summer, you won't need heavy jumpers but you will need good footwear for sightseeing! During winter you are best of wearing the heaviest item for travel to save space in your bag.

3. Pack all accessories/lingerie into your shoes to maximize space.

4. Be aware cotton clothing weights more than any other fabric. Whilst you may have space leftover in the suitcase you need to keep in mind weight restrictions also. Polyester fabrics weight much less and are easily fold-able.

5. Pack multipurpose items, i.e. something that will serve you more than in one way. If you are travelling for couple of months a neckerchief will be a God send!

You can use it as a bikini cover-up; table cloth; head band; skirt; top; scarf and many more.

6. Packing color coordinated items will allow you to pack less whilst creating more outfits.

7. My final tip and something I have applied many times. Bring a Parka with you. it's one piece of clothing which will serve you well and you will not be searching for an umbrella while away which you would not be able to bring back in hand luggage anyway.
